What is it about puddles and there magnetic effect for children?

My children will be happily walking and as soon as they see a puddle there’s a telltale change in their footsteps, and they speed up ready for that little bounce and splash.

At first I want to shout ‘no stop’ as I visualise piles of washing, moaning for the remainder of the walk about wet and cold feet but then I bite my tongue and watch that little moment of joy in their faces when they step into that magical portal and jump to create a massive splash!

Such a simple thing but I love watching the joy in their faces .. and just thank myself some days for at least making them wear wellies!
